Excellence Through Endeavour

Principal's Message

The school motto is …

Students, staff and parents working together to achieve quality educational outcomes

This motto is reflected in the daily life of the school.

The first years of school play a unique and vital role, establishing the foundations for future learning, skills, confidence, values and attitudes. At Putney Public School, the teaching, support and office staffs work hard to ensure that the needs of every individual student is met.

The staff at Putney Public School aim to inspire students to acquire knowledge and realise their self worth in a supportive, caring learning environment and provides opportunities for all students to experience success and achieve their full potential. I believe that primary school should be a happy and fulfilling time for both students and their families.

Putney Public School has an open door policy, promoting regular and honest communication between parents and staff. We welcome the contributions of parents and encourage parents to work in partnership with the school to create an atmosphere of warmth, understanding and tolerance that is mutually supportive.

Specialist teachers as well as members of the school staff provide extra – curricula activities during, and after school hours to prepare students for performance and competition opportunities. This is seen by the community as a valuable part of the students’ school life. The emphasis at Putney School is on developing the whole child, and providing a safe and happy environment where children are encouraged to produce their personal best.

Opportunities for student leadership are provided through the Student Council and via the election of School Captains, Vice Captains and Student Representatives. Library monitors are selected each term, a buddy system operates K – 6 and the Peer Mediation and P’Sport Programs provide further opportunities for senior students to support and lead the younger students.

Enrolments for kindergarten are accepted in the year previous to commencing school. Students may enter Kindergarten at the beginning of the school year if they turn five on or before 31 July in that year.

Each year the school holds a Community Breakfast Forum and I encourage interested parents to come along and meet staff, students and parents. Contact the school for more detailed information about dates and times for this breakfast.
