Extra Curricular Activities

Year 2 Choir

All students in the grade combine to practise weekly for performances, such as Public Education Day, Education Week, Annual Putney School Awards Ceremony and local community performances. They are seen to carry their folder of songs about the school with great pride!

Senior Choir

Students audition to be part of this choir, which rehearses weekly to participate in the massed choir at the annual Ryde Schools’ Spectacular which is held at the Sydney Opera House. The senior choir also performs at school and community events.

Dance Group

Students audition to be part of the Dance Group each year. Students in this program are fortunate to be instructed by one of our parents, who is a trained dance teacher. Each year the Dance Group auditions for the Ryde Schools’ Spectacular, held at the Sydney Opera House and also performs at school and community events.

Drama Group

Putney students in years 3 to 6 can join the Drama Group. Students attend at lunchtimes and build performance pieces with a view to performing at the Rotary Drama Night sponsored by Gladesville Rotary Club and with the venue donated by North Ryde Returned Services Community Club. Students who attend regularly and show commitment benefit from the opportunity to build confidence and creativity on a professionally lit stage.

School Band Program

Each year students in Years 3 – 6 are invited to join the band program. An orientation day is held at the end of each year for students interested in joining the program the following year. Students are tutored at school and band rehearsals are held one morning a week for all members of the band. The beginner and advanced bands perform at a variety of events each year.

Year 2 Recorder Group

All Year 2 students are invited to join the recorder group to develop their confidence in performance and skills in reading music.
