Excellence Through Endeavour

Putney Public School is situated in pleasant leafy grounds close to the Parramatta River and Morrison Bay.

The average enrolment is around 440 students, formed into parallel classes from K–6. The number of boys and girls enrolled across the school is fairly even and attendance is regular and stable.

The school is staffed by dedicated and caring professionals, who provide quality teaching and learning opportunities across all Key Learning Areas. While there is an emphasis on the teaching of the basic skills of English and Mathematics, students are provided with opportunities to develop their skills in a range of other areas and in particular Creative Arts and Physical Education. Specialist teachers as well as members of the school staff provide extra – curricula activities during, and after school hours to prepare students for performance and competition opportunities. This is seen by the community as a valuable part of the students’ school life. The emphasis at Putney School is on developing the whole child, and providing a safe and happy environment where children are encouraged to produce their personal best.

Opportunities for student leadership are provided through the Student Council and via the election of School Captains, Vice Captains and Student Representatives. Library monitors are selected each term, a buddy system operates K – 6 and the Peer Mediation Program provide further opportunities for senior students to support and lead the younger students.

Parent participation in school activities is valued, and prominent in the life of the school. The P&C Association is a dedicated group of parents who are active in their fundraising and coordinate many successful community events at school.
